Catching Up During COVID
Well, it’s been a weird, sometimes stressful couple of months, hasn’t it? I hope everyone out there is doing as well as you can be, staying safe and getting by.
I’m grateful to be able to say that I’ve had a lot on my plate. And even as I’m taking care of the usual responsibilities I have for my clients—redesigns and upgrades, reputation management and content creation—I’ve also been taking this time to amp up some of my own brand’s presence. With the whole world relying even more on digital activities than ever before, I’ve felt energized to try new things and make new connections.
Live Rag
One of the biggest projects I’ve intiated in the past few weeks has been our “Live Rag” streaming informational conversations. In these live streams, which we’re doing every Thursday afternoon, I sit down with my marketing guru, Jen Hanson, to discuss important information and trends regarding the wide world of business marketing. Our topics so far have included “Your Virtual First Impression,” “Driving Traffic to Your Website,” and marketing and advertising as it applies specifically to your website.
While these videos are available online after the fact, the exciting part about live streaming is being able to interact with our viewers then and there. We encourage people to ask questions in advance or right there during the event. We know that having a conversation is one of the simplest, most effective ways to get information out there in a way that can be easily understood.
Guest Hosts
Every third Thursday, when I’m serving my shift at the fire station, Jen partners with a guest expert to discuss exciting things from different local businesspeople’s perspective. These might be some of our other colleagues and partners at Deckard & Company, or they might be people from other Sarasota-Manatee companies who are mastering marketing on a local, regional and national level. We’re keeping our fingers on the pulse of the marketing world, and we’re inviting everyone out there to be a part of it.
The Value in Understanding
What I love about this livestreaming project is that it’s not about trying to convince people to buy a product or sign up for a service. We’re just breaking down the tools and processes involved in 21st-century marketing. And since Jen and I and other local experts are going to be exploring these kinds of topics anyway, just as a way to continue to do the best work we can possibly do, then it’s fun to share the information with everyone. I believe that when consumers are better informed, they can be trusted to make the right decisions for themselves. We’re just happy to help get the info out there.
